The dated and well-used student residence needed a lot of refreshing and brightening up. In the common area, by extending the space with more windows and skylights, natural light was brought into the otherwise dark and small area. A kitchenette and a more functional lounge area was added to serve the many purposes of this student space, while still keeping the comforts and feel of home. The elements and feel of the west coast were carried inside, while maintaining durability and flexibility. Inspirational Kurt Hahn quotes were strategically placed throughout the residence in entry, lounge and hallways.
